Gameday’s AFL Fantasy 2022 Captains - Week 10

Updated: May 20, 2022

Week 10 is here! And in this blog, we will be answering the age-old AFL fantasy coach's weekly question... Who should you be starting this week as your fantasy team's captain? If you feel we have left someone out let us know on our socials - twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.

Rory Laird

I wanted to forget who Rory Laird was after he burnt me in the lock of the round segment on the GDS footy show, but he’s just so hard to ignore right now! In his last three outings, Laird has put up GDS fantasy scores of 130, 139, and 145 - giving him a 3 round average of 138! Laird’s essentially playing 100% midfield time so far this year and he faces a Jack Steele-less St Kilda this weekend at home, it's all lining up for Laird to continue his red hot form.

Patrick Cripps

I vote that we all forget that last week happened… yes 26 disposals and a GDS fantasy score of 91 for Patty Cripps is a “bad day” this year but that's just a credit to the standard in which he’s been playing. He failed to hit the scoreboard for the first time this season (including the game he left early injured) and was shown a lot of attention by GWS and Lachie Ash, so I think we should just sweep last week under the rug because there’s no doubting Patty Cripps is fantasy STUD this year. He’s got Sydney at home this week and I expect him to resume the 130-140 GDS scores we’ve been so accustomed to this year.

Brad Crouch

I’m really interested to see how the impact of not having Jack Steele on the park for the Saints impacts Brad Crouch. Crouch himself is having himself a great year so far tying Andrew Brayshaw for most tackles in the league so far this season with 59 total tackles, averaging almost 28 disposals and a career-high average of 3.2 marks a game. What's more, last week where Steele found himself managing his shoulder injury throughout the game, Crouch had his best game! 36 touches, 3 marks and 7 tackles was good enough for a 139 GDS fantasy score performance. Crouch is firmly in captain discussions for me.

Touk Miller

If you forgot who Touk Miller was, he reminded everyone last week that he is "that guy" for the Suns! He lead them to a 36 point win against a Freo outfit that have been frankly on fire. Miller himself had a big day with 34 disposals, 8 tackles and 3 free-kicks which helped him to a monster 154 GDS fantasy score. Fantasy owners will be hoping this is a return to consistent form for Miller as he faces the Bulldogs away from, which is no easy task but I mean… it’s Touk Miller!

Josh Dunkley

Outside of the game against Port Adelaide two weeks ago, Josh Dunkley has been one of the most consistent fantasy assets, with a season average of 131 - five of those games being over 140 GDS fantasy points. Recently he’s found his kicking boots as well, scoring a goal in each of his last four games. He finds himself facing the Gold Coast Suns this week who have fought valiantly recently, however, they have still been prone to leaking fantasy points. Dunks should be in for another big score this weekend!
