Blink and you'll miss it, it's already week 2! And in this blog, we will be answering the age-old AFL fantasy coach's weekly question... Who should you be starting this week as your fantasy team's captain? If you feel we have left someone out let us know on our socials - twitter, facebook, instagram.
1. Jack Macrae
Fun fact: Jack Macrae has never dropped below 100 points when playing the Carlton Blues. He’s an absolute ball magnet and he proved that again last week against a very stout Melbourne Demons midfield, finding the ball a massive 39 times. Macrae is just about as safe as you get every week, but against the blues - he’s locked as my captain.
2. Touk Miller
The newspaper headlines on the Gold Coast last week were covered by a healthy Matty Rowell doing his thing, but don’t let Rowell outshining Miller for a week distract you from how good Touk Miller is. Yes, for Touk Miller standards last week was quiet. Though, when you consider a goal, 29 touches and 6 tackles quiet, it speaks volumes of how good he is. The suns will need him more this week, so watch him rev up.
3. Christian Petracca
Seems like 2021 bull Christian Petracca is definitely still with us. 8 marks, 38 disposals (24 being kicks) and 2 goals means Petracca is still hungry for the Charlie in 2022! He was absolutely phenomenal last week and grew as the game went on which is the scariest part. You can feel safe locking Petracca as your captain for week 2 vs the …. SUNS…..
4. Ollie Wines
Speaking of the Brownlow medal, here's our most recent winner Ollie Wines. He was overshadowed last week by Dan Houston's gargantuan day, but Ollie was back to his usual shenanigans. 29 disposals, 6 tackles and 3 marks was a steady game out the gates for him. He’s got Hawthorn this week, who allowed 4 x 100+ scores to North last week. I can see Wines going bang here in week 2.
5. Clayton Oliver
There are not many people in the footy community who loves the Gold Coast Suns but Clayton Oliver is definitely one of those people. In his last 4 games against the Suns, Oliver has embarrassed them… putting up scores of 150+ on two of those occasions. He was also very good last week, with 32 disposals, 6 marks and 5 tackles. It’s scary what he could do against the suns this week.
