Join us as Kerm puts on his general manager cap and selects his dream team going into round 3 of the AFL! He'll have the entire player pool to choose from, which should make selecting 6 defenders, 5 midfielders, 1 ruckman, and 6 forwards weekly easy right? Well, let us know who you agree with and who else you might have selected down below on all of our social channels twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.
Defenders (DEF)
I'm making one move in my backline this week and its going to be Angus Brayshaw that has to make way. Gus has been good without setting the world alight and theres a defender out there who can no longer be ignored... Find out who is replacing Gus below!
Sam Docherty
Carlton Blues
Verses Greater Western Sydney at the GIANTS Stadium, Sydney
Saturday at 3:35pm AEST
Round 2 score - 95 GDS fantasy points
Sam Docherty was a bit of a dud last week in round 2 BUT it is against the fantasy footy bible to drop him so... Doch isn't going anywhere! Lock of all locks, all season long!
Luke Ryan
Fremantle Dockers
Verses West Coast at the Optus Stadium, Perth
Sunday at 5:20pm AEST
Round 2 score - 140 GDS fantasy points
Yes, Fremantle defender Luke Ryan is the one replacing Gus Brayshaw! Which could absolutely backfire but Ryan has been the most in form defender in the league to start the season. Ryan complemented his round 1 score of 187 GDS fantasy points with a more than respectable 140 GDS fantasy points in round two. As the highest averaging defender in GameDay Squad footy, I could no longer ignore him!
Jordan Dawson
Adelaide Crows
Verses Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 6:30pm AEST
Round 2 score - 121 GDS fantasy points
Jordan Dawson went about his business in true Jordan Dawson fashion in round 2. 121 GDS fantasy points off the back of a 27 disposal outing against a formidable Richmond forward line is more than going to keep coaches happy with his work. Knock on wood, but something horrible would have to happen for me to drop Dawson at this rate.
Jack Sinclair
St Kilda Saints Verses Essendon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne Saturday at 6:25pm AEST
Round 2 score - 135 GDS fantasy points
After his stinky round 1 performance I put Jack Sinclair on the hot seat, but showed some faith and kept him in the starting 22. After my rocket, he repaid my faith in a big way. Scoring 135 GDS fantasy points and passing the eye test in round 2, I feel a lot more comfortable starting Jack Sinclair in round 3.
James Sicily
Hawthorn Hawks Verses North Melbourne at the University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston Saturday at 12:45pm AEST
Round 2 score - 103 GDS fantasy points
James Sicily and Jack Sinclair switched roles in round 2, after impressing with a massive score of 153 last week, Sicily went on to only score 103 in round 2. He came out of the gates firing, but petered off as the game went on. We can't drop him, he's got a favourable match up this week against North Melbourne. Start him with confidence.
Nick Daicos
Collingwood Magpies
Verses Richmond at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Friday at 6:50pm AEST
Round 2 score - 142 GDS fantasy points
I mean... This guy is absolute shredding up the league right now! Nick Daicos is just about everybody's favourite selection this week after shaking the early tag from Lachie Jones against Port Adelaide and scoring a huge 142 GDS fantasy points to lead all defenders for total score in round 2. He's about as much of a lock as Sam Docherty at the moment... those are the levels we're talking.
Midfielders (MID)
Controversially I'm only going to make one change this week in my engine room! I know the fans will be calling for potentially another change to be made but rest assured, the scouting team is always watching! The man making way is Jack Macrae, I bigged him up last week after a big round 1 performance, only for him to embarrass me and the club, only managing to score 82 GDS fantasy points after spending more than 30% of his time-on-ground in the forward line. Who's coming in? Keep reading to find out!
Rory Laird
Adelaide Crows
Verses Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 6:30pm AEST
Round 2 score - 160 GDS fantasy points
This is why you trust your stars! Laird disappointed hugely in round one, scoring only 64 GDS fantasy points after a lot of off-season hype. If you jumped off the Laird ship after that round 1 start, you only have yourself to blame because he went ballistic in round 2! You can only keep the great man down for so long and he repaid the coaches who showed some loyalty with an incredible score of 160 GDS fantasy points.
Andrew Brayshaw
Fremantle Dockers
Verses West Coast at the Optus Stadium, Perth
Sunday at 5:20pm AEST
Round 1 score - 140 GDS fantasy points
Dudes just very good at football.
Touk Miller
Gold Coast Suns
Verses Geelong at Heritage Bank Stadium, Gold Coast
Sunday at 2:10pm AEST
Round 2 score - 133 GDS fantasy points
I'm a Suns fan... A sad Suns fan - but one thing that has made Suns fans happy up until now is being able to watch Touk Miller play every week, so let me have this one! Touk is coming off a big 133 GDS fantasy point outing against the Bombers away after notching up a lazy 24 kicks (!), 7 handballs, 3 marks and 5 tackles on the day. Miller meets Geelong at home this week end who has historically enjoyed running rings around. Geelong own Miller's second highest average for teams against in 2022. He'll be a must-start until further notice.
Clayton Oliver
Melbourne Demons
Verses Sydney at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Sunday at 3:20pm AEST
Round 2 score - 174 GDS fantasy points
This is what Clarry does... leading the league in fantasy points, as easy as you like, Clayton Oliver you superstar. Oliver played his lights out...literally... after torching Brisbane for 37 disposals, 4 marks, 9 tackles and a goal just to top it all off. He's the highest averaging midfielder to date, it's going to take a lot for anyone to take the crown at the rate Clarry is moving at.
Tom Green
Greater Western Sydney Giants
Verses Carlton at GIANTS Stadium, Sydney
Saturday at 3:35pm AEST
Round 2 score - 106 GDS fantasy points
All things considered this is a pretty disappointing score for Green after his incredible round 1 score of 152 GDS fantasy points. Now isn't the time to drop him though. Green had to face early Reuben Ginbey attention and saved his score with his second half performance. He comes up against Carlton on Saturday who could deploy Ed Curnow as a tag threat but as we stand today he remains start-able.
Ruckman (RUCK)
Still no changes to the ruck position for round 3! I was very tempted by Brodie Grundy, I think he's going to have a stellar day against Peter Ladhams and Sydney as the sole ruck but, English has done nothing wrong for me to drop him and he'l be starting again!
Tim English
Western Bulldogs
Verses Brisbane at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Thursday at 6:20pm AEST
Round 2 score - 138 GDS fantasy points
English is playing some really good footy. He top scored for the Bulldogs as they fell to the St Kilda Saints in an upset but coaches can be happy with how English fared against Rowan Marshall. The way English is moving around the ground and impacting contests is also very promising. He racked up 21 disposals, 8 marks and 5 tackles on his way to 138 GDS fantasy points on the day. Lock and load.
Forwards (FWD)
One change this week for my forwards and it's unfortunately the man who came in just last week who will be giving way. Toby Greene did nothing wrong at all on his way to 110 GDS fantasy points, so this is actually pretty harsh, but the man coming in cannot be ignored.
Josh Dunkley
Brisbane Lions
Verses Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Thursday at 6:20pm AEST
Round 2 score - 111 GDS fantasy points
Danny Phantom over here somehow worked his way to 26 disposals last week against the Demons. I think I recall seeing him a total of 3 times all night but his disposal numbers just kept going up. But hey, we will take it! 111 GDS fantasy points is a big improvement on his round 1 score of just 83 GDS fantasy points. We still expect more from Dunkley, expect a big score in the coming rounds.
Connor Rozee
Port Adelaide
Verses Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 6:30pm AEST
Round 2 score - 94 GDS fantasy points
It was looking bad for Rozee early in his round 2 matchup against Collingwood, after copping a head knock early in the game. He somewhat rescued his score to finish on 94 GDS fantasy points with a late second half scoring surge. All the ingredients are there for Rozee to score big, CBAs, TOG, Score involvements, everything points to Rozee going big, so absolutely keep him in.
Tim Taranto
Richmond Tigers
Verses Collingwood at the at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Friday at 6:50pm AEST
Round 2 score - 126 GDS fantasy points
All eyes will be on Timmy Taranto... because there's no body left. Insert Will Smith lonely meme here. Richmond will be without Dustin Martin, Jayden Short and Jacob Hopper as they try to tame the beast that is Collingwood at the moment, if they are to succeed, Taranto will have to have a gigantic game. Taranto is an elite option and at this stage, he's an absolute must-start.
Stephen Coniglio
Greater Western Sydney Giants
Verses Carlton at GIANTS Stadium, Sydney
Saturday at 3:35pm AEST
Round 2 score - 114 GDS fantasy points
Set
And
Forget
Jack Ziebell
North Melbourne Kangaroos
Verses Hawthorn at the University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston Saturday at 12:45pm AEST
Turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks! Jack Ziebell has started the 2023 season in extremely good fashion, scoring 131 GDS fantasy points in round one and then backing it up with an even bigger round 2 score of 133 GDS fantasy points in round 2. He's a man on a mission who has turned back the clock in a big way and should be considered a must-start until someone like Aaron Hall comes in and ruins the party.
Errol Gulden
Sydney Swans Verses Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne Sunday at 3:20pm AEST
Round 2 score - 125 GDS fantasy points
Gulden looked extremely good against Hawthorn in round 2, while carrying a bit of a knock as well. His score of 125 GDS fantasy points bested his round 1 score of 118. We have a superstar in our hands here, Gulden will be on this list for the next 10 years.
Fringe players that just missed out on the starting 18.
