Join us as Kerm puts on his general manager cap and selects his dream team going into round 4 of the AFL! He'll have the entire player pool to choose from, which should make selecting 6 defenders, 5 midfielders, 1 ruckman, and 6 forwards weekly easy right? Well, let us know who you agree with and who else you might have selected down below on all of our social channels twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.
Defenders (DEF)
My defenders were very solid in round three, and despite the fact i'm still very tempted to make a change! Ultimately, i'm going to leave my back line unchanged for round four but Geelong stud Tom Stewart is absolutely knocking on the door! The threat of copping a Hawthorn tag and the possible inclusion of Mitch Duncan has scared me away enough to wait a week, but if he produces another 150 GDS point performance, he's going to force his way in.
Sam Docherty
Carlton Blues
Verses North Melbourne Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Friday at 4:20pm AEST
Round 3 score - 160 GDS fantasy points
After a poor 95 GDS fantasy point outing in round 2, Sam Docherty repaid the faith his owners instilled in him with a round leading 160 GDS fantasy points in round 3! Any doubts about Docherty's scoring power in 2023 should now be quelled and with that... Doch isn't going anywhere! Lock of all locks, all season long!
Luke Ryan
Fremantle Dockers
Verses Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 1:45pm AEST
Round 3 score - 99 GDS fantasy points
Somewhat of a "Meh..." game from Ryan who before round through put up monster scores of 187 and 140 GDS fantasy points in back-to-back weeks. That level of scoring ceiling is rare amongst defenders and because of it, he has to stay in the team to see if he can produce another big score again. Ryan and Fremantle will take on Adelaide away and with the Crows having their tails up after a showdown win, Ryan will need to be at his devastating best.
Jordan Dawson
Adelaide Crows
Verses Fremantle Dockers at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 1:45pm AEST
Round 3 score - 97 GDS fantasy points
Another high octane scorer at the defender position who struggled a little bit in round 3 is Jordan Dawson. The Crows skipper led his team to a showdown victory last week but his fantasy score fell below the triple digits standard, which is extremely rare for someone like Dawson. Dawson is match up proof and despite the rough score last week he should be started with absolute confidence.
Jack Sinclair
St Kilda Saints Verses Gold Coast Suns at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne Saturday at 7:30pm AEST
Round 3 score - 95 GDS fantasy points
There is no seat hotter than Jack Sinclair's seat right now! Three rounds in and round 3 was Sinclair's second score below 100 GDS fantasy points, he's been a far cry from the top 3 defender in fantasy we saw last year. I'm keeping him in for round 4 because he takes on the Suns, he should be good for 120+ GDS fantasy points and to be frank, if he misses that total, he'll be kicked out of the team this time next week!
James Sicily
Hawthorn Hawks Verses Geelong Cats at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne Monday at 3:30pm AEST
Round 3 score - 154 GDS fantasy points
James Sicily's second score over 150+ GDS fantasy points in three games total! Incredible scoring from the Hawthorn captain as he led his side to their first win against North Melbourne in round 3. Sicily is a must start defender and with the way that he's scoring he could average 135+ over the course of the next few weeks.
Nick Daicos
Collingwood Magpies
Verses Brisbane Lions at the Gabba, Brisbane
Thursday at 7:35pm AEST
Round 3 score - 119 GDS fantasy points
The guy is just really, really, really good at football. For me, Nick Daicos should be considered a top 3 defender in all of fantasy football. You know you're a stud when 119 GDS fantasy points is considered an off day...
Midfielders (MID)
Unfortunately i'm going to be making one change in the midfield this week and its going to be Touk Miller of the Gold Coast Suns who will have to make way. Miller was good without setting the world alight in round three, scoring 100 GDS fantasy points against a struggling Geelong Side just isn't going to cut the mustard in this midfield.
Rory Laird
Adelaide Crows
Verses Fremantle Dockers at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 1:45pm AEST
Round 3 score - 103 GDS fantasy points
It's easy to have a memory of a gold fish in these scenarios, when a premium midfielder scores below par. It is important however, to remember that in round 2 Rory Laird went ballistic for 160 GDS fantasy points, and although his inconsistent scoring is starting to become a problem, we can't overreact when it comes to someone as talented as Rory Laird. It doesn't get any easier for him as he meets Fremantle and Andy Brayshaw in round 4, but he's a set and forget for a reason... until further notice at least.
Andrew Brayshaw
Fremantle Dockers
Verses Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Saturday at 1:45pm AEST
Round 1 score - 111 GDS fantasy points
Dudes just very good at football.
Darcy Parish
Essendon Bombers
Verses Greater Western Sydney Giants at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Sunday at 2:10pm AEST
Round 3 score - 141 GDS fantasy points
It's easy to forget about Darcy Parish at times. With Zach Merrett always scoring well, the exciting inclusion of Will Setterfield over the off-season, partnered with the fact that he has burnt some coaches in the past, it can be so easy to gloss over the fact that he's averaging 132 GDS fantasy points a game at the moment. Parish is leading the league in total disposals, finding the ball at will and has led the Essendon Bombers midfield group for centre-bounce-attendances in two of the three games so far this season. I currently view Parish as a top 5 midfielder who has an incredible high ceiling, look for him to average around that 130 GDS points per game for the next few weeks at least.
Clayton Oliver
Melbourne Demons
Verses West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, Perth
Sunday at 5:20pm AEST
Round 3 score - 129 GDS fantasy points
The number one ranked player in fantasy so far... the king, Clayton Oliver! Three scores of 140, 174, and 129 GDS fantasy points put's Clarry firmly in the fantasy throne and there is no reason to believe he's going to slow down any time soon. Oliver and the Demons take on the West Coast Eagles this week, who look to have lost captain Luke Shuey who will miss time with an injury... get the mercy rule ready and watch Oliver rack fantasy points up at will this weekend.
Tom Green
Greater Western Sydney Giants
Verses Essendon Bombers at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Sunday at 2:10pm AEST
Round 3 score - 130 GDS fantasy points
After a disappointing round 2 score of 106 GDS fantasy points in round 2, Tom Green went on to return straight back to form, posting a whopping 130 GDS fantasy points in round 3 last week. A score like that is enough to help the young-gun retain his position in the the dream team but will come up against a staunch Essendon Bombers midfield outfit in round 4. I'll back him in to score around the same this week, the kid is a gun.
Ruckman (RUCK)
It is impossible to get rid of Tim English at the moment! I was very tempted by Brodie Grundy again, as he tasks on the West Coast Eagles and should dominate, but English hasn't put a foot wrong, there will be no changes this week at the ruck position.
Tim English
Western Bulldogs
Verses Richmond Tigers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Saturday at 4:35pm AEST
Round 3 score - 123 GDS fantasy points
Tim English has finished as a top 3 ruckman in each of the first three rounds of the season! Elite consistency from a position that was screaming for any sign of consistency from anybody. English faces a tough task in round 4, coming up against Toby Nankervis and the Richmond Tigers, but if anybody is up to the task, it's the leagues best ruckman - Tim English.
Forwards (FWD)
We'll be making one change in the forward line again this week and in somewhat unfair fashion, it's going to be North Melbourne Kangaroo Jack Ziebell who makes way. Ziebell wasn't fantastic but also wasn't great last week, only scoring 96 GDS fantasy points. The game was tough to map for Ziebell because star midfielders Jy Simpkin and Luke Davies-Uniacke were both ruled out of the game. I have a feeling this wont be the last we see of Ziebell in this squad.
Josh Dunkley
Brisbane Lions
Verses Collingwood Magpies at the Gabba, Brisbane
Thursday at 7:35pm AEST
Round 3 score - 133 GDS fantasy points
Now that's the Josh Dunkley we all know and love! It's taken a couple of games for Dunkley to get going in new colours but he definitely hit his straps last week, scoring 133 GDS fantasy points off the back of a 17 kick, 7 handball, 9 mark and 6 tackle day against his former side in the Western Bulldogs in round 3. Dunkley will have to be at the best of his game in round 4, the lions meet one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment in the Collingwood Magpies, look for Dunkley to put up another big score.
Connor Rozee
Port Adelaide
Verses Sydney Swans at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney
Saturday at 7:30pm AEST
Round 3 score - 139 GDS fantasy points
Like Josh Dunkley above, Connor Rozee put up his best score of the season in round 3. Rozee was valiant in a showdown loss to the Adelaide Crows, but fantasy coach's will be licking their lips at the prospect of an inform Connor Rozee. It unfortunately doesn't get any easier match up wise for Rozee, as the Power are set to take on the Sydney Swans at the SCG this week but after that round 3 performance, some trust needs to be instilled.
Tim Taranto
Richmond Tigers
Verses Western Bulldogs at the at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Saturday at 4:35pm AEST
Round 3 score - 127 GDS fantasy points
Tim Taranto has been going about his business at a very good clip, averaging 131 GDS fantasy points through his first 3 rounds, with his worst score to date being a score of 126 GDS fantasy points... quite the floor! It looks as though the midfield role he's earn't will be his to lose, he's averaging 77% centre-bounce-attendances through the first three rounds, which is a team high. If he can just clean up his disposal efficiency a tad, his role would be rock solid!
Stephen Coniglio
Greater Western Sydney Giants
Verses Essendon Bombers at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Sunday at 2:10pm AEST
Round 3 score - 106 GDS fantasy points
Set
And
Forget
(Even after a quiet-ish round)
Dylan Moore
Hawthorn Hawks
Verses Hawthorn at the University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston Saturday at 12:45pm AEST
Round 3 score - 154 GDS fantasy points
It's now impossible to leave Dylan Moore out of this side after his gargantuan score of 154 GDS fantasy points in round 3! 18 kicks, 8 handballs, 12 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals is what got him to the second best score of the round league-wide. The weirdest thing is, Moore put up this score without recording a single CBA in the game. In fact, he hasn't recorded a single CBA all season but still owns a GameDay Squad Aussie Rules average of 125 GDS fantasy points per game! Stick him in your squads!
Errol Gulden
Sydney Swans Verses Port Adelaide at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney Saturday at 7:30pm AEST
Round 3 score - 86 GDS fantasy points
Round three was Gulden's worst performance yet but it was also Sydney's worst fantasy performance as a team. Only one player recorded a score more than 100 GDS fantasy points and despite Gulden's score of 85 GDS fantasy points, he still finished 4th in total team scoring. Don't let the Melbourne choke hold scare you away from starting Errol Gulden going forward.
Fringe players that just missed out on the starting 18.
