Batters
This Mumbai Indians side is full of superstar talent, but none are as immense as Rohit Sharma. Rohit has been a force in white ball cricket for as long as he's been in the limelight. Since 2008, Sharma hasn't missed a single season, noting up 243 IPL matches in the process. 2023 was a somewhat "down" year for Sharma, as he only averaged 27.2 GDS fantasy points per game, finishing 23rd amongst batsman in the competition. I simply cannot see a repeat of that level output from the great man, clear 2023 from your minds and select him every time the Mumbai Indians play!
Suryakumar Yadav actually outperformed his captain by a considerable margin last year! Averaging almost 44 runs per game and taking his 2023 GameDay Squad average to 48.3ppg! Yadav was amongst the best of the best as he finished 7th amongst all batsman. The key for your GameDay Squad and the Mumbai Indians success is how they can get all their stars to perform at once, or are there too many cooks in the kitchen? Time will tell...
Bowlers
I mentioned that Rohit Sharma is the Indians biggest name but I wouldn't argue if anyone made a case for Jasprit Bumrah who might be the worlds best fast bowlers right now. Bumrah didn't play in the 2023 iteration of the IPL however, he's about as safe as they come when it comes to selecting bowlers in GameDay Squad. Three times, Bumrah has exceeded 20+ wickets in the IPL and he is coming off an incredible test series again England where he took 19 wickets and held an economy rate of 3.09 through the series. He's a colossal superstar and he deserves to be viewed as a must-start all tournament long!
All-rounders
We mentioned Rohit, we know that Bumrah is going to be great but I think the highest averaging Mumbai Indian in a few months time is going to be Hardik Pandya. Pandya was down on his average last season, ranking just 18th amongst All-Rounders. I think he finishes 1st in 2024 as he has announced that he will be bowling again in the 2024 IPL season! Not only will Pandya be batting high up the batting order and likely bowling 4 overs a game, he'll be captaining the Mumbai Indians in 2024, taking over from star team mate Rohit Sharma! I'm incredibly high on Hardik Pandya and he will be the first player I select whenever the Indians are playing!
Wicket Keeper
Left handed opening batsman and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan will look to build on his fantastic 2023 campaign where he averaged 43.3 GDS fantasy point per game! The 25-year-old has averaged 30+ Runs per game for two seasons in a row now, and there is now reason to believe that his averages will drop in 2024. Kishan has been taken through the national side process now and has only improved year on year, the IPL will be a a big test for him as he rivals fellow national keepers KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel for a wicket-keeping spot in the T20 world cup in a few months time!
