Join us as JT puts on his general manager cap and selects his dream team going into round 10 of the NRL! He'll have the entire player pool to choose from, which should make selecting 3 winger/fullbacks, 2 centres, 2 halves, 2 edge forwards, 3 middle forwards and 1 hooker weekly easy right? Please note that the round rank is based on where the player ranks within their position. The same applies for the overall rank except the rank is calculated on the players average not total points. Well, let us know who you agree with and who else you might have selected down below on all of our social channels twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.
Winger/Fullbacks (WFB)
Dylan Edwards
Penrith Panthers (Average 60, Round 9 Rank – 5th, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Warriors at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 3:00pm AEST
After a couple of poor weeks, Edwards bounced back last week in terrible conditions against the Wests Tigers. A performance in these sorts of conditions shows us the quality and upside that Edwards possesses. This week I think the Panthers are really going to turn it on against the Warriors. If the game follows this narrative, I’m expecting a solid showing from Edwards on attack. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.
Latrell Mitchell
South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 65, Round 9 Rank – 2nd, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Storm at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 7:45pm AEST
Last week Latrell had me really nervous at halftime, but he really came home strong in the second forty and he went on to score 75 points. He has now had back-to-back great performances against two of the NRL’s frontrunners and there isn’t any reason why he can’t continue his excellent form against the Strom. I’m sure the Storm would have prepared extremely well for the Bunnies as they had a round 9 bye but I’m not sure if they have the personnel to completely shut Latrell down. If they can, I’d be surprised! Latrell remains set and forget for me. I have him scoring 55+ points.
Reece Walsh
Brisbane Broncos (Average 47, Round 9 Rank – 48th, Overall Rank – 9th)
Verses Sea Eagles at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Friday at 8:05pm AEST
Walsh hasn’t had the best couple of weeks and only managed six points against the Rabbitohs. Walsh has had some impressive performances this season and has managed four scores of 60+. It came down to either Walsh or Teddy for my third WFB spot and a lot of my reasoning around Walsh’s selection is my Broncos narrative. The Broncos have lost their last two games at Suncorp and in front of a full house on Friday, I’m expecting fireworks with Haas back in the side. I think this is a great spot to play an out of form Walsh as he may be overlooked by a lot of coaches this week. I have him scoring 50+ points.
Centres (CTR)
Joseph Manu
Sydney Roosters (Average 43, Round 9 Rank – 4th, Overall Rank – 11th)
Verses Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Sunday at 4:00pm AEST
Manu continues to smash it while playing in the halves. He is set a forget while he plays in the halves. I have him scoring 60+ points.
Herbie Farnworth
Brisbane Broncos (Average 46, Round 9 Rank – 7th, Overall Rank – 7th)
Verses Sea Eagles at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Friday at 8:05pm AEST
Farnworth has been great this season and I’m going to back my Broncos narrative this week. He has been a quiet achiever over the last couple of weeks and has back-to-back 50+ scores, one of these even includes a sin-bin. We have seen the likes of Gagai, Tago and even Starford To’a all have scores of 60+ against the Sea Eagles and I don’t see any reason why Farnworth can’t either. I have him scoring 50+ points.
Halves (HLF)
Nathan Cleary
Penrith Panthers (Average 68, Round 9 – 5th, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Warriors at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 3:00pm AEST
Even in tough conditions at Bathurst, Cleary was still able to knock out 65 points in an upset loss against the Wests Tigers. I’m expecting the Panthers to bounce back in a big way this week and I believe this provides Cleary with more upside than usual. However, he has lost the goal kicking due a niggling injury and this does limit his upside to a certain extent. He is still the second best halve in GDS fantasy and I’d be a fool not to start him. Cleary remains set and forget. I have him scoring 65+ points.
Nicho Hynes
Cronulla Sharks (Average 85, Round 9 – 2nd, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 5:30pm AEST
Same story as every week for Nico, he can’t be left out of my team to beat. Like Cleary, Hynes is set and forget. I have him scoring 65+ points.
Edge Forwards (EDG)
Isaiah Papali’i
Wests Tigers (Average 48, Round 9 Rank – 24th, Overall Rank – 10th)
Verses Dragons at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Sunday at 1:50pm AEST
Papali’i hasn’t lived up to my expectations this season and he’s coming off a couple of scores in the thirties. I’m not reading too much into last week’s wet weather game as he only got 59 minutes instead of his usual 80. This week, Papali’i has a great match up against the Dragons as they allow an average of 49 points a game to his position. With the Wests Tigers getting their first win of the season, hopefully this will give them more confidence on attack against a struggling Dragons outfit and we see some good opportunities for Papali’i on attack. I have him scoring 55+ points.
David Fifita
Gold Coast Titans (Average 64, Round 9 Rank – 3rd, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Eels at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Sunday at 6:25pm AEST
Fifita keeps on impressing me more and more each week, he even managed to score his first try of the season against the Sea Eagles. With the form he is in, he can’t be left out of my side. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.
Middle Forwards (MID)
Cameron Murray
South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 54, Round 9 Rank – 32nd, Overall – 6th)
Verses Storm at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 7:45pm AEST
Murray’s inconsistency has been frustrating this season but I still have to start him due to the upside he provides. I have him scoring 60+ points this week.
Payne Haas
Brisbane Broncos (Average 67, Round 9 Rank – DNP, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Sea Eagles at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Friday at 8:05pm AEST
After missing last week, I reckon that Haas will be rearing to go. He may even get more minutes after a week off. Haas is set and forget in the MID position. I have him scoring 60+ points his week.
Isaah Yeo
Penrith Panthers (Average 61, Round 9 Rank – 6th, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Warriors at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 3:00pm AEST
Like Haas and Murray, Yeo is set and forget in the MID position. I have him scoring 55+ points his week.
Hooker (HOK)
Harry Grant
Melbourne Storm (Average 58, Round 9 Rank – Bye, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Rabbitohs at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Saturday at 7:45pm AEST
Grant bounced back with 70 points against the Warriors on ANZAC day after only scoring 30 points against the Sea Eagles in round 7. With Cook underperforming and Robson being even more inconsistent than Grant, there isn’t a better option than Grant at hooker for me this week. I am a bit nervous about his match up against the inform Bunnies but as he can bang out 65+ score more often than other hookers, he has to be my starter. I have him scoring 60+ points. Fringe players that just missed out on the starting 13:
James Tedesco WFB – Roosters
Jayden Campbell WFB – Titans
Campbell Graham CTR – Rabbitohs
Mitchell Moses HLF – Eels
J’maine Hopgood EDG – Eels
Jack De Belin MID – Dragons
Nelson Asofa-Solomona MID – Storm
Blayke Brailey HOK – Sharks
