GameDay Squad Rugby League - Round 11 Team To Beat

Join us as JT puts on his general manager cap and selects his dream team going into round 11 of the NRL! He'll have the entire player pool to choose from, which should make selecting 3 winger/fullbacks, 2 centres, 2 halves, 2 edge forwards, 3 middle forwards and 1 hooker weekly easy right? Please note that the round rank is based on where the player ranks within their position. The same applies for the overall rank except the rank is calculated on the players average not total points. Well, let us know who you agree with and who else you might have selected down below on all of our social channels twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.

Round 11 NRL Fantasy team to beat

Winger/Fullbacks (WFB)

Dylan Edwards' gold GameDay Squad player card

Dylan Edwards

Penrith Panthers (Average 63, Round 10 Rank – 1st, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Roosters at BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Friday at 8:00pm AEST

Edwards showed us once again why he is one of the elite WFBs in GDS. He scored 79 points, and this was the top score by any player for round 10. We all know that WFBs can be hit and miss in tough matchups but given his current form, Edwards is set and forget for me. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.

Latrell Mitchell's legend GameDay Squad player card

Latrell Mitchell

South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 63, Round 10 Rank – 17th, Overall Rank – 2nd)

Verses Wests Tigers at Accor Stadium, Sydney

Saturday at 3:00pm AEST

Latrell probably has one of the best matchups for WFBs this week. Even though he only managed 41 points against the Broncos, he does have a 73 point average over the last four games. Latrell continues to be set and forget for me. I have him scoring 60+ points.

Greg Marzhew

Newcastle Knights (Average 59, Round 10 Rank – Bye, Overall Rank – 3rd)

Verses Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Sunday at 2:00pm AEST

Over the last 24 hours, I’ve been flicking between Marzhew, Teddy, Gutho and Miller for my last WFB and finally landed on Marzhew. This selection is outside my usual strategy of only playing fullbacks in the WFB position. However, Marzhew might just be a home run hit this week as Khan-Pereira who is very slight in frame will be marking him. Marzhew is one of the best tackle busting WFBs in the game and averages eight of these a game. On top of this, he averages 195 metres gained per game. This works out to be 43-44 points across these two metrics. Last week we saw Sivo score three tries down Khan-Pereira’s edge and this bodes well for Marzhew. I am going to put a disclaimer on this as the long-term forecast does show that there might be rain in the area on Sunday. If this looks more likely as the week goes on, I would be changing my selection to Teddy or Gutho. I have him scoring 50+ points.

Centres (CTR)

Joey Manu's bronze GameDay Squad player card

Joseph Manu

Sydney Roosters (Average 42, Round 10 Rank – 13th, Overall Rank – 8th)

Verses Panthers at BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Friday at 8:00pm AEST

Manu didn’t have a great game in tough conditions against the Cowboys in round 10. He scored 38 points but lost a whopping 37 points through missed tackles, errors, and penalties. If he had half as many demerits, he would have been one of the top five centres on the week. While he continues to play in the halves he is still a must start for me, even in a tough match up against the Panthers. I have him scoring 55+ points.

Dane Gagai

Newcastle Knights (Average 53, Round 9 Rank – Bye, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Sunday at 2:00pm AEST

It was a coin flip between Gagai and Graham for the second centre spot in my team to beat this week and I ended up settling for Gagai. I do prefer Graham’s match up, but I also like Gagai’s match up as well. The reason I have given the edge to Gagai is because I’m expecting a big Knights bounce back this week and he averages more metres gained and tackle breaks. In these two metrics, Gagai averages 15 more points a game than Graham. I have him scoring 45+ points.

Halves (HLF)

Nathan Cleary's diamond GameDay Squad player card

Nathan Cleary

Penrith Panthers (Average 69, Round 10 – 1st, Overall Rank – 2nd)

Verses Roosters at BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Friday at 8:00pm AEST

Cleary bounced back for coaches against the Warriors after a couple of quiet weeks. Even in a tough match up against the Roosters this week, he is still set and forget. I have him scoring 65+ points.

Nicho Hynes' legend GameDay Squad player card

Nicho Hynes

Cronulla Sharks (Average 76, Round 10 – 22nd, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Sea Eagles at 4 Pines Park, Sydney

Sunday at 6:05pm AEST

Hynes was underwhelming and scored 32 points in a disappointing Sharks effort against the Dolphins. I still think he is the best player in GDS Fantasy, and he is still set and forget for me. I have him scoring 65+ points.

Edge Forwards (EDG)

Tyson Frizell

Newcastle Knights (Average 51, Round 10 Rank – Bye, Overall Rank – 5th)

Verses Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Sunday at 2:00pm AEST

Frizell is coming off the bye and has an average of 58 points over his last four games. Over these games, he is averaging 44 points in base which is very good for an edge forward. Frizell has also crossed for three tries this season and averages three tackle breaks a game. He has put in some great performances this season and may have earnt himself an Origin recall. With the Knights being rather disappointing in their round 9 match against the Eels, I’m expecting them to be better on attack this week against a Titans side that allows 24 points per game, the third points in the NRL. If this comes to fruition, there might be more opportunity for Frizell to feature on attack. I have him scoring 55+ points.

David Fifita's platinum GameDay Squad player card

David Fifita

Gold Coast Titans (Average 64, Round 10 Rank – 1st, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Sunday at 2:00pm AEST

Fifita’s season keeps on going from strength to strength. He has been the top scoring EDG in two of the last three weeks. With the form he is in, he can’t be left out of my side. I have him scoring 60+ points this week.

Middle Forwards (MID)

Jack De Belin

St George Illawarra Dragons (Average 54, Round 10 Rank – 2nd, Overall – 7th)

Verses Cowboys at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville

Saturday at 5:30pm AEST

I’ve finally done it; Murray has been cut! De Belin takes his spot as he’s been the inform MID over the last couple of weeks with scores of 75 and 70. Over the last four weeks, he’s averaging 75 minutes per game and 60 points in base. With the Dragons not making any changes from last week’s lineup, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see De Belin continue to clock up these sorts of minutes. Even with him moving from lock to prop last week, we still saw him on the pitch for 74 minutes. He passed the eye test for me and deservedly gets a start in my team to beat for the first time. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.

Payne Haas' silver GameDay Squad player card

Payne Haas

Brisbane Broncos (Average 65, Round 10 Rank – 10th, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Storm at AAMI Park, Melbourne

Thursday at 7:50pm AEST

Haas had a rather quiet game against the Sea Eagles and had a season low of 55 points. After being embarrassed by the Bunnies, the Storm may come out all guns blazing at AAMI Park. With the likes of Asofa-Solomona and Welch running up the middle at the Broncos, I believe we may see Haas have extended minutes and be able to put up a decent fantasy score. At the end of the day, Haas is set and forget in the MID position, and I’d feel like a fool not to have him in my team to beat. I have him scoring 65+ points his week.

Isaah Yeo's gold GameDay Squad player card

Isaah Yeo

Penrith Panthers (Average 61, Round 10 Rank – 8th, Overall Rank – 2nd)

Verses Roosters at BlueBet Stadium, Penrith

Friday at 8:00pm AEST

Like Haas, Yeo is set and forget in the MID position. I have him scoring 55+ points his week.

Hooker (HOK)

Harry Grant's diamond GameDay Squad player card

Harry Grant

Melbourne Storm (Average 57, Round 10 Rank – 3rd, Overall Rank – 1st)

Verses Broncos at AAMI Park, Melbourne

Thursday at 7:50pm AEST

In my opinion, Grant is easily the best hooker in GDS. Out of the nine games he’s played, he’s finished in the top three hookers of the round six times. He has also finished as the top hooker of the round three times. No other hooker has been this consistent and Grant will continue to hold the starting spot in my team to beat for the foreseeable future. I have him scoring 60+ points. Fringe players that just missed out on the starting 13:

Lachlan Miller WFB – Knights

James Tedesco WFB – Roosters

Campbell Graham CTR – Rabbitohs

Shaun Johnson HLF – Warriors

Briton Nikora EDG – Sharks

Tohu Harris MID – Warriors

Reuben Cotter MID – Cowboys

Reece Robson HOK – Cowboys
