Join us as JT puts on his general manager cap and selects his dream team going into round 7 of the NRL! He'll have the entire player pool to choose from, which should make selecting 3 winger/fullbacks, 2 centres, 2 halves, 2 edge forwards, 3 middle forwards and 1 hooker weekly easy right? Please note that the round rank is based on where the player ranks within their position. The same applies for the overall rank except the rank is calculated on the players average not total points. Well, let us know who you agree with and who else you might have selected down below on all of our social channels twitter, facebook, instagram, discord.
Winger/Fullbacks (WFB)
Dylan Edwards
Penrith Panthers (Average 72, Round 6 Rank – 1st, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Saturday at 5:30pm AEST
Edwards had a game to remember against the Sea Eagles as he ran in four tries and racked up 118 points in GDS. He is an auto pick for me again this week as he has another juicy matchup against the Knights. The Panthers attack has looked unstoppable over the last couple of games, and I think they shouldn’t have too many problems with the Knights defence this week. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.
Latrell Mitchell
South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 56, Round 6 Rank – 2nd, Overall Rank – 5th)
Verses Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Thursday at 7:50pm AEST
Latrell showed us his class as one of the elite WFBs in GDS against the Bulldogs. He won’t be scoring a hattrick or kicking seven goals every week, but I think the matchup against the Dolphins will suit him. One thing that surprised me after digging into the numbers, was that the Dolphins have only allowed an average of 40 fantasy points to opposition fullbacks. I won’t lie, this is a slight concern but after seeing the attacking prowess of the Bunnies against the Bulldogs, I just can’t leave Latrell out of my team to beat this week. I have him scoring 55+ points.
Reece Walsh
Brisbane Broncos (Average 55, Round 6 Rank – 6th, Overall Rank – 7th)
Verses Titans at CBUS Super Stadium, Gold Coast
Saturday at 7:35pm AEST
Walsh has been great since returning to Brisbane and has scored in the top ten WFBs, four out of the five games he’s played. Coming up against the Titans in an all Queensland affair, I’m expecting the Broncos to bounce back after their shock loss against the Raiders. I think this game will be close, but Walsh should see plenty of ball and the Titans defence will need to be on alert every time he touches the ball. He has been a great distributor of the ball and has a try assist in every game this season. He could have held onto the ball instead of passing on a couple of occasions and found himself with a try instead of a try assist. Hopefully he shows us his try scoring ability this week. I have him scoring 50+ points this week.
Centres (CTR)
Campbell Graham
South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 51, Round 6 Rank – 1st, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Thursday at 7:50pm AEST
Graham has been having a great season and is one of the best centres in the game. He was having a steady game until the Bunnies busted open the Bulldogs left edge defence and he strolled over for a hattrick in the last 10 minutes. He will be in for a much sterner test this week coming up against Euan Aitken. Graham is one of the best defensive centres in the game and he usually offers a very reliable base. With the Bunnies looking great on attack at the moment, I have to have him in my team to beat this week. Especially when I don’t like a lot of the match ups this week for the other fantasy relevant centres. I have him scoring 45+ points.
Valentine Holmes
North Queensland Cowboys (Average 50, Round 6 Rank – 5th, Overall Rank – 3rd)
Verses Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland
Saturday at 3:00pm AEST
Holmes has been having a very consistent season and has scored in the top ten CTRs, five out of the six games he’s played. The Warriors have let in 64 points over the last couple of weeks and with them being back at home, I’m expecting a better display in this area in front of their faithful crowd. In saying this, I think the Cowboys still have 20+ points in them this week and this should provide 10+ fantasy points for Holmes in goals. The Warriors have allowed an average of 42 points to opposing centres and Holmes makes my team to beat this week as I believe he has one of the more favorable matchups. I have him scoring 45+ points.
Halves (HLF)
Nathan Cleary
Penrith Panthers (Average 73, Round 6 – 2nd, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Saturday at 5:30pm AEST
Cleary is killing it in GDS at the moment. His last three scores have been 84, 92 and 106. He is set and forget for me in the halves. I have him scoring 65+ points.
Nicho Hynes
Cronulla Sharks (Average 91, Round 6 – Bye, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Roosters at PointsBet Stadium, Sydney
Friday at 6:00pm AEST
He can’t be left out of my team to bet this week. Like Cleary, Hynes is set and forget. I have him scoring 65+ points.
Edge Forwards (EDG)
Zac Hosking
Penrith Panthers (Average 69, Round 6 Rank – 14th, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Saturday at 5:30pm AEST
I said it last week and I’ll say it again. While the Panthers are in the form they are in at the moment and with Hosking playing outside Cleary, he will remain an auto pick for me. I have him scoring 55+ points.
David Fifita
Gold Coast Titans (Average 58, Round 6 Rank – 4th, Overall Rank – 2nd)
Verses Broncos at CBUS Super Stadium, Gold Coast
Saturday at 7:35pm AEST
Fifita has been one of the most impressive EDGs in GDS and has scored in the top five EDGs, four out of the five games he’s played. Believe it or not, he still hasn’t crossed over for a try and when he does, his ceiling could be huge. While he keeps up this consistency, Fifita is an auto pick for my team to beat. I have him scoring 55+ points this week.
Middle Forwards (MID)
Cameron Murray
South Sydney Rabbitohs (Average 57, Round 6 Rank – 2nd, Overall – 4th)
Verses Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Thursday at 7:50pm AEST
Murray looks to be back to the form he was in for the 2022 season. He’s too good to be left out of my team to beat and will remain an auto pick. I have him scoring 60+ points this week.
Payne Hass
Brisbane Broncos (Average 67, Round 6 Rank – 1st, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Titans at CBUS Super Stadium, Gold Coast
Saturday at 7:35pm AEST
Like Murray, Haas is set and forget in the MID position. I have him scoring 60+ points his week.
Isaah Yeo
Penrith Panthers (Average 61, Round 6 Rank – 6th, Overall Rank – 3rd)
Verses Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Saturday at 5:30pm AEST
I’ve been saying this for a while, Yeo is the Mr Reliable of the MIDs. To be honest, it was a coin flip between Yeo and Matterson this week for who was going to make my team to beat. I’ve given Yeo the nod due to the Panthers attack. I have him scoring 60+ points this week.
Hooker (HOK)
Harry Grant
Melbourne Storm (Average 60, Round 6 Rank – 5th, Overall Rank – 1st)
Verses Sea Eagles at AAMI Park, Melbourne
Friday at 8:00pm AEST
Grant is the only hooker this season that has finished in the top five hookers every week. I believe he’s the best hooker in GDS and is likely to hold the hooker position in my team to beat most weeks. Up against an out of sorts Sea Eagles, hopefully we see him get back to his running game this week as well as some more stats in attack. I have him scoring 60+ points. Fringe players that just missed out on the starting 13:
Lachlan Miller WFB – Knights
James Tedesco WFB – Roosters
Joseph Manu CTR - Roosters
Cameron Munster HLF - Storm
Tyson Frizell EDG – Knights
Ryan Matterson MID - Eels
Tohu Harris MID - Warriors
Damien Cook HOK - Rabbitohs
