The Melbourne Stars are the perennial underachievers of the Aus Cricket competition. The team is unreal on paper, however out on the pitch is a different story. The inconsistency of Maxwell and the lack of strike power in their bowling line up lead to some pretty ordinary results in 2023/24. The Stars have made some massive signings in the off season, picking up Tom Curran, Ben Duckett and Hamish McKenzie. These three should solidify each of the three positions in the Stars lineup. Must-Have Wicket Keeper / Batsman
Ben Duckett - 30
The Stars are very thin at the BAT/WK position with most of their top order listed as All Rounders for GDS. Although Ben Duckett will miss at least the first round, he features as the must have Stars batsman. He should bring his English test form into the upcoming Aus Cricket season.
Must-Have Bowler
Usama Mir - 28
The bowling outfit looks light on & it’s unknown which bowler is a lock for all 4 overs. All-rounders Maxi, Webster, Stoinis, Curran and even Cartwright can roll the arm over, but the bowler to keep an eye on is Pakistan leggie Usama Mir. He will miss the first 3 games of the tournament after being granted a release from December 26. He’ll be their #1 spinner from match 4 onward but misses their round 1 double.
Must-Have All-Rounder
Beau Webster - 30
The Stars lineup includes 4 genuine All Round options that could be must have this season in Webster, Maxi, Stoinis and Curran. However, you can expect another top performance from Beau Webster. If you struggle to trust Maxi in T20 cricket, especially if he isn’t fit for round 1, put your faith in Beau Webster.
