The Sydney Thunder will want to put the 2023/24 Aus Cricket season behind them, only securing 1 win from 10 matches. In the off-season the Sydney outfit strengthened their top order signing Sam Billings from the Brisbane Heat and Nic Maddison from the Melbourne Renegades. They also landed the massive signing of Kiwi short-form sensation Lockie Ferguson. Check out the Sydney Thunder GameDay Squad team preview for the must-have players, potential break out star and Most Valuable Player ahead of the 2024/25 Aus Cricket season.

Must-Have Wicket Keeper / Batsman
Cameron Bancroft - 32
Cameron Bancroft looks set to open to the batting with David Warner, however, he may find himself without the gloves as the Thunder picked up Sam Billings from the Heat in the off season. This could be a positive for Bancroft who can just focus on his batting.
Must-Have Bowler
Lockie Ferguson - 33
An exciting addition to this team is Lockie Ferguson, who has already starred in the shorter format for New Zealand. His bruising pace and bounce on Aussie decks will cause a lot of trouble for the top order and he’ll likely be given the death over responsibility which is absolute gold for GDS scoring.
Must-Have All-Rounder
Daniel Sams - 32
Hard to look past arguably the Thunder’s best player in recent seasons, Daniel Sams. He contributes significantly with the ball, in the field and when called upon can finish a run chase with the bat.
